Variants

Starting

The starting state

PendingReady

Waiting for the writer to be ready

PendingRead

Waiting for a read to resolve.

ShuttingDownWithPendingWrites(Option<ShutdownAction>)

Waiting for all pending writes to finish, as part of shutting down with an optional action.

ShuttingDownPendingAction

When shutting down with an action, waiting for the action to complete, at which point we can finalize.

Finalized

The pipe has been finalized, no further actions should be performed.
